Medical marijuana is mostly used for debilitating diseases in Florida it’s really for people who are suffering in the state. Medical marijuana is determined by a licensed Florida physician for individuals with debilitating diseases. Debilitating disease includes cancer, Crohn's disease, Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis

Debilitating medical condition to use cannabis as a treatment with the recommendation of a medical doctor. Marijuana especially used in the enforcement areas in Florida. Diseases such as cancer, glaucoma and Parkinson’s are mentioned in the amendment of Florida it more specifically, the proposed amendment would have allowed patients to use medical marijuana if prescribed by a doctor.

Medical marijuana an effective treatment against glaucoma, one of the leading causes of blindness in florida. The Florida Supreme Court will hear arguments regarding a proposed constitutional amendment to legalize medical marijuana in their republic on December 5th 2013. The proposed constitutional amendment would allow patients to use marijuana if they have a debilitating medical condition or approval from their doctor.

Florida constitutional amendment contains huge loopholes that almost anyone of any age can use to get a doctor’s authorization to smoke pot. Florida court should issue an advisory opinion directing that the proposed amendment not be placed on the ballot. The Florida organization also reproduces constitutional flaws with the proposal

1. THC and CBD, marijuana's primary cannabinoids, are both cancer killers.

No, I'm not talking about using marijuana to help manage cancer's effects. It's actually anti-cancer.

Recent research out of Spain suggests that THC, marijuana's psychoactive ingredient, kills brain cancer cells. Study co-author Guillermo Velasco claims that when THC was applied to cancerous brain tissue, the cancer cells were killed while healthy cells were left alone.

CBD apparently does the same; a pair of scientists from California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco demonstrated the cannabinoid's ability to stop metastasis in many kinds of aggressive cancer.

Imagine if this plant were discovered in a jungle two weeks ago. What would the news be saying? The CBD article goes as far as to say the breakthrough could "potentially alter the fatality of the disease forever." The lack of media coverage for this is astounding, but that doesn't diminish the research.

2. Marijuana triggers neurogenesis. Layman's terms: It leads to brain cell growth.

Wait....marijuana is supposed to kill brain cells, right? Wrong.

The roots of the marijuana-kills-brain-cells myth are deep despite the lack of credible evidence. The original study supporting this notion is questionable at best and recent research suggests exactly the opposite.

In 2005, a study showed cannabinoids' ability to promote neurogenesis in the adult hippocampus, the brain region responsible for many important brain functions including mood and memory. The authors also cited anti-anxiety and anti-depressant effects that accompany the neurogenesis. This explains why people across California, Colorado, Washington and other marijuana-friendly states often turn to the herb for a mood-boost instead of pharmaceutical drugs. It also supports research that marijuana helps improve cognitive function in bipolar disorder patients. This brings us to our next fact....

3. Suicide rates are lower in areas where medical marijuana is available.

A Denver state-level study analyzed the statistical trend of suicide after introduction of medical marijuana.

From the study:

"Our results suggest that the passage of a medical marijuana law is associated with an almost 5% reduction in total suicide rate, an 11% reduction in the suicide rate of age 20-29 males, and a 9% reduction in the suicide rate of 30-39 males."

It's interesting this hasn't become mainstream data in a country so focused on suicide prevention. Not surprisingly, one of the main reasons cited by the study's authors for the decrease was connected to the at-risk population (20 and 30-something males) replacing alcohol with marijuana. This data makes the strictness of Illinois' new medical marijuana policy even more laughable.

"Don't let usage get out of control! Less people might commit suicide!"

Speaking of marijuana's effects on well-being, I highly recommend this very personal, heart-wrenching article.

But what about the physical effects?

4. There is zero evidence that marijuana causes significant lung damage.

While vaporization is always touted as the safest method of marijuana ingestion, the largest study of its kind suggested marijuana-only smoking is harmless as well:

"We hypothesized that there would be a positive association between marijuana use and lung cancer, and that the association would be more positive with heavier use. What we found instead was no association at all, and even some suggestion of a protective effect."

The above words come from UCLA Medical Doctor Donald Tashkin, author of the study and marijuana researcher of more than 30 years.

Considering the tar in marijuana smoke was found to contain as many harmful carcinogens as cigarette smoke, this study actually strengthens the notion that marijuana is anti-cancer. The plant itself seems to have an offsetting effect for the harmful properties of smoke.

5. There are two completely different types of marijuana, both with different effects on the user.

One of the biggest mistakes made by people who first try marijuana is immediately thinking that it's "not for them." It certainly isn't for everyone, but what if they just tried the wrong kind?

There are hundreds of different strains of marijuana, tagged with names like Blue Dream, OG Kush, Train wreck or Pineapple. All of these are categorized as "Sativa" or "Indica." Here's a simple-as-possible explanation on the difference:

Sativa are usually day-time strains, used to enhance the experience of social events, time in nature or listening to new music. Caregivers often recommend sativa strains for patients seeking relief from depression, PTSD, fatigue and some types of anxiety and pain. Some patients even report positive effects on ADHD while medicating with sativa strains. Although sativa produce an enjoyable effect, they usually are the culprit for an inexperienced user "tweaking out" during one of their first times smoking.

Indicas are often smoked at night due to their narcotic effect on the user. Indica strains are perfect for users suffering from any type of pain, nausea or anxiety. They're also preferable for novice users as they acclimate themselves to the herb. This variety is popular for meditation or yoga due to its mind-calming qualities.

A Colorado Springs mom is transmittable heat from social services for treating her son's cancer with cannabis as an alternative of chemotherapy. The thing is, she says, it seems to be working.

Sierra Riddle learned a year ago that her son Landon, 3, had an aggressive form of leukemia. Doctors in their hometown of Salt Lake City began the standard treatment of radiation and chemotherapy, which took a heavy toll on his little body.

Landon became violently ill, vomiting multiple times a day, and suffered nerve damage in his legs, Riddle told CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta in July. At one point, the boy went 25 days without eating. "Around the clock, he's usually on liquid morphine, Ativan, Promethean. And it just really didn't seem to be helping," Riddle said.

Though she didn't know much about medical marijuana, Riddle decided to try it because "we didn't have anything else to lose." She and Landon moved to Colorado, where medical marijuana is legal, in order to obtain the drug.

In January Landon began taking liquid forms of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol), two compounds found in cannabis. Miraculously, his cancer began to retreat. "As soon as we started taking the oil, his platelets have been a regular healthy person's level and they can't understand why," Riddle told CNN.

Landon went off chemotherapy in early July, and continues to take his four liquid capsules of the cannabis compounds per day. Last week, local news reports showed Landon as a happy, healthy-looking little boy, running and playing as any three-year-old would.

But doctors are concerned that stopping Landon's chemo treatments may put his life in danger. After a Colorado doctor threatened to report Riddle for refusing chemotherapy for Landon, a human services agent showed up on her doorstep last week, CBS Local Denver reported.

Another sit-down with the doctor and child protective services was reportedly scheduled for Wednesday, October 2. Riddle told CBS she has not missed any of Landon's scheduled appointments, but refuses to put him back on chemo unless his situation turns dire again.

"I just want to say, no matter what I am not going to give him chemo, but I'm not going to risk losing him either," she said. "I'm not going to push it that far." Riddle isn't the first parent on record to use medical marijuana to combat a child's cancer. Last year, a 7-year-old girl in Oregon was given the drug by her mother to ease leukemia symptoms.

Others, such as the Echols family of Oregon, have attempted to treat their children's seizure disorders. Because of laws in most states, as well as a lack of precedent for treating children with cannabis, there is almost no guidance for parents who wish to do so. The CBD compound seems to have an ability to combat cancer in human cells and in mice according to lab experiments, researchers from California Pacific Medical Center Research Institute told CNN.

The U.S. Department of Justice presented some support this week that the argument among banking system and pot businesses could be resolved. Anyone who cares about public safety should expect the organization succeeds.

The Justice Department, which before had signaled that banks that dealt with marijuana businesses would be in violation of federal law, is now suggesting there may be ways to work with banking regulators on the issue without having to get congressional approval.

Testifying before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, Deputy Attorney General James Cole said Justice Department officials are working with the Treasury Department on "ways that this can be dealt with in accordance with the laws that we have on the books today."

Here is the problem: Federal law bars banks from doing business with criminal organizations, and while medical marijuana is legal in Colorado and recreational sales will be legal in January, the drug is still illegal under federal law.

Thus, pot shops and related businesses have been prohibited from taking credit cards or checks. They can accept only cash, which they can't put into bank accounts. Marijuana-related enterprises also pay their taxes in cash and complain they can't even hire armored cars because of federal laws.

The whole situation sets up an enormous public safety problem, especially in Denver as January approaches. With large amounts of cash exchanging hands continually, the 200 or so pot shops in Denver will make tempting targets for armed robbers.

The large and steady flow of cash also could be tempting for organized crime groups that want to launder money through marijuana businesses. And the cash-only system hampers auditors being able to square sales with inventory or to see if taxes are really being paid.

It possible, the federal government should craft a solution that brings these transactions onto the books and into the banks.

At a gathering with drug reorganization advocates in San Francisco, ex- Mexican President Fox articulated sustain for California's efforts to lawfully normalize cannabis, medical and otherwise. He said that California has a brawny enriching influence on Mexico, and that evolution here would assist labors there.

Speakers integrated Dale Sky Jones for CCPR, Nate Bradley for LEAP and me for California NORML, who noted that marijuana proscription is a global trouble founded on international treaties, which need to be permanent during global collaboration by the U.S., Mexico, and other countries. Many thanks to President Fox, Jamen Shively, and Steve DeAngelo for arranging this gathering. - Dale Gieringer, CA NORML

Former Mexican President Vicente Fox took his campaign to decriminalize marijuana to San Francisco on Monday, unification pot advocates to urge the United States and his own country to legalize the sale and recreational use of cannabis.

Fox met for three hours with the advocates, including Steve DeAngelo, the Oakland-based executive director of California's largest marijuana dispensary, and former Microsoft executive Jamen Shively, who hopes to create a Seattle-based pot brand now that Washington State has legalized recreational use.

Legalization, Fox told reporters after the meeting, is the only way to end the violence of Mexican drug cartels, which he blamed on America's war on drugs. Every day, Fox said, 40 young people are killed in drug-related violence.

Fox's position on legalizing drugs has evolved over time since the days when he cooperated with U.S. efforts to tamp down production in Mexico during his 2000-2006 presidential terms. He has been gradually more verbal in his resistance to present policies, assistance two prior efforts to decriminalize marijuana in Mexico.

Mexico's current president, Enrique Pena Nieto, has contrasting substantiation. But he recently said that he would consider world opinion on the matter, predominantly in light of recent voter-approved initiatives to legalize marijuana in Washington state and Colorado for leisure use.

In San Francisco on Monday, Fox said he had signed on to attend and help develop an international summit later this month in Mexico to strategize a path to end marijuana prohibition.

Participants scheduled to attend the three-day meeting starting July 18 in San Cristobal include an American surgeon, the dean of Harvard's School of Public Health and a Mexican congressman who plans to introduce a bill to legalize marijuana in Mexico this summer, Fox said.

The bill, which he expects to be introduced by Mexican lawmaker Fernando Belaunzaran, would legalize adult recreational use of marijuana, Fox said.

Support for legalizing marijuana in the United States has been growing. Nineteen states and the District of Columbia have passed medical marijuana laws, according to the pro-legalization National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws. But the drug remains illegal under federal law.

Lifting the prohibition on cannabis in Mexico, however, appears to face more of an uphill battle. Mexican lawmakers have rejected previous legalization efforts and polls have shown little popular support for the idea.

Medical marijuana is unquestionably a mounting business-really, it could well be amongst the biggest developing industries at the side of the grapheme sector. And it looks like one of the Internet's biggest entities is intensely alert of that. Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) emerges to be receiving in on the medical marijuana action.

Just last week, Michigan Compassion, a company that bonds growers with patients to set up a medical marijuana association, expected $120,000 in Google advertising services. Consequently, the company will, preliminary next month, be able to endorse its offerings via Google's renowned AdWords policy, significance its results will be served up beside normal offerings when pertinent keywords are searched on Google.

In exacting, Michigan consideration is hoping to draw the attention of those searching for in rank related to chemotherapy. Nausea due to that process is widespread, and medical marijuana can ease that.

The Huffington Post quotes vice president of Michigan Compassion Amish Parikh:

"The goal is to link the negative effects of chemotherapy and the positive effects of cannabis."

Now, this is surely small modifying for Google, whose company's contributions wing is reliable for the push. AdWords supposedly brings the company some $40 billion or more in annual revenues, so as long as $120,000 this way isn't a big deal.

What is a big deal is Google wholeheartedly throwing its considerable weight behind the embryonic medical marijuana association. Gradually, and in fits and starts, we're seeing the association of the different nodes of the network that a modern business sector needs to succeed.

We've already seen companies like Privateer Holdings develop ways to sidestep the difficulty of finding asset capital in the marijuana sector due to the federal administration's behind-the-times attitude toward marijuana. And even Google had long been opposed to supporting advertising involving marijuana.

It's possible to argue that Michigan Compassion gets a pass because it isn't directly related to growing the drug, but that's a fragile dispute. It's much more likely Google's changed deportment reflects Silicon Valley's growing support for the medical marijuana sector.

Even more fascinatingly, Google noted that the marijuana-friendly search results would only show up in states that already support medical marijuana. That would include 19 states and D.C., but it's very likely more states will join the list in short order.

The Huffington Post report suggests that even LinkedIn, the professional networking company, has offered its services to Michigan Compassion, which will undoubtedly help make its services more visible.

The funding for Michigan Compassion came via the Google Grants program, a non-profit version of AdWords. It allows participating non-profit organizations to spend up to $10,000 a month on AdWords promotions, reports Search Engine Watch.

Marijuana continues to be an absurdity as it makes its way from illegal drug to wonder medicine being used to treat a number of symptoms and disorders more safely than long-established pharmaceuticals. In the newest news, marijuana, which has been linked with durable cognitive arrears in constant users, is now being tested as a dealing to protect brain function after hurtful injury.

Amidst the many "it-damages-your-brain" studies, some reports have shown that cannabis has neuroprotective belongings. Studies have recommended that it has defensive belongings in neurodegenerative diseases like multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's, Huntington's and Parkinson's diseases.

The author of the new study, Dr. Yosef Sarne of Tel Aviv University's Adelson Center for the Biology of Addictive Diseases, theorized that ultra-low doses of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the main psychoactive part of marijuana, induces minor injure to the brain, which may actually "prerequisite" the brain to protect it against more brutal damage from injuries such as lack of oxygen, seizures or toxic drug exposure.

In Dr. Sarne's animal study, available in the journals Behavioural Brain Research and Experimental Brain Research, researchers injected mice with a solo, very low dose of THC around 1,000 to 10,000 times less than what is found in a conventional "joint" either several days before or after exposing the mice to a brain trauma.

They found that the treated rats had enhanced biochemical processes, which protected brain cells and preserved cognitive function over time, compared to control mice that were not treated with THC. Expressly, when the mice were examined three to seven weeks after the brain injury, those in the THC group performed better in learning and memory tests. They also showed increased amounts of neuroprotective chemicals compared to the control group.

In past laboratory experiments, Sarne's group found that ultra-low doses of THC affected cell signaling, preventing cell death and promoting certain growth factors. The researchers concluded that the use of low doses of THC can prevent long-term cognitive damage that results from brain injury in mice, but the drug needs to be tested in human trials.

Aside from treating patients with traumatic injury to the brain, Sarne suggested several ways of using THC preventively, before an injury occurs.

One use could be for patients on cardiopulmonary heart-lung machines used in open heart surgery. These come with a risk of interrupting the blood supply to the brain. Sarne said that THC could be injected beforehand as a preventive measure in case the brain is deprived of oxygen.

It could also be tested for use in patients such as those with epilepsy, who are at constant risk of brain injury, or those with a high risk of heart attack.

Sarne is currently testing the ability of low doses of THC to prevent heart damage during a heart attack, to prevent the death of heart muscle cells that are deprived of oxygen.

"Brazil is very late. In many countries, marijuana use is permitted, but here we have these intransigent policies. Today we would say that drugs do not kill, what kills is the war on drugs," march director Carol Ribeiro said. Police said one young man was detained on disbelief of using illegal substances.

Compulsory Confinement For Drug Addicts

Brazil is measured one of the world's largest patrons of chink, a extremely addictive, low-cost imitative of cocaine. It is anticipated there are about a million crack users among the 194-million-strong population.

Major cities like Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo have launched policies of compulsory confinement for drug addicts, particularly those addicted to crack.

The Latin American country does not make the drugs obsessive there - most of the marijuana comes from Paraguay, while the cocaine enters from Bolivia, authorities said.
One half of the prominent "Cheech and Chong" comedy team says he has trampled prostate cancer, thanks to the use of marijuana.

Earlier this week Tommy Chong posted on CelebStoner that he had "kicked cancer's a**!"

"So the magic plant does cure cancer with the right diet and supplements," wrote Chong.

Chong is glorying his healing with a bit eccentric methods of his Canadian doctor, who treated his cancer with "hash oil" and expectant him to modify his diet. He also said a number of conferences with Adam Dreamhealer, a man whom he illustrated as a "world-renowned healer".

Last June, the 74-year-old comedian was analyzed with cancer after a three-year period in which he said he had been drug free.

Chong said he is 99 percent free of the disease.

"I'm due for one more blood test, MRI, etc., but I feel the best I've felt in years," he wrote in his post.

Chong, who exposed in June 2012, he was using cannabis to treat his cancer, said in an interview with CNN, that legalizing marijuana "means a lot more to me than just being able to smoke a joint without being detained."

The actor is best known as being part of the stoner-comedy duo "Cheech and Chong" with Richard "Cheech" Marin.

A few hundred marchers serenely completed their way throughout downtown Fort Worth on Saturday sustaining the Global Marijuana March.

Since the Global Marijuana March began in 1999, hundreds of thousands of people have participated in similar marches in over 750 different cities worldwide.

The Fort Worth event was prearranged by DFW NORML, an educational organization committed to legalizing marijuana in Texas.

"Texans deserve legal marijuana just like they now have in Colorado and Washington" said DFW NORML Executive Director Shaun McAlister "and Texas patients deserve medical marijuana just as much as the other 19 states that now offer medicinal marijuana to those in need."

Although many supporters of the cause seek to have marijuana legalized for recreational use - others were there to promote awareness of its use in the medical field in treatment of certain cancer-related diseases counting pain management for age-related, provocative and autoimmune diseases.

"It's no longer tolerable that the Government can say that this is a Schedule-1 drug and that is has no medical value - but owns the rights that says it's a neuro-protectant and anti-toxidant." said C.J. Maestas with the Cash Hyde Foundation.

The march was part of a day-long mini-festival held at Federal Plaza in downtown Fort Worth that featured local musicians, speakers and informational booths all united to discuss, endorse, and instruct both consumers and non-consumers alike.

On Wednesday, Maryland will turn out to be the 19th state to endorse a
medical marijuana program.

Though, it's unidentified as to when the agenda will start.
Governor Martin O'Malley's spokeswoman, Raquel Guillory, established Wednesday
that the governor will sign the determine at a bill-signing ceremony Thursday.
The bill, known as House Bill 1101, received final approval from the
Maryland General Assembly on April 8.
The medical marijuana bill allows academic medical research centers to
establish programs to dispense marijuana to sick patients.
Program applications will be required to specify qualifying medical
conditions for treatment; treatment duration and dosage; where marijuana would
be obtained; sources of funding; and a plan for monitoring data and outcomes.
